The Edge has returned

Java's brewing -- again -- at The Edge.

The quirky neighborhood coffeehouse that closed a decade ago is back in business at 1400 Overton Park. It is open daily from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Features include a patio, free Wi-Fi, computer bar, computer rental, pool tables, jukebox, flat-screen television and video games. Live musicians perform several nights a week.

The establishment opened in 1994 at 1544 Madison. It then moved to 532 S. Cooper, then 1913 Poplar before closing in 1998.

"Many young and old who could not, or did not, experience The Edge firsthand have come to think of it as a mythical place they wish they could have experienced," said owner Frank James.

Frank James, brings “The Edge Experience,” a cultural phenomenon which occurred between 1994 and 1998.  The Edge CoffeeHouse, formerly at 1544 Madison, 532 South Cooper, and later at 1913 Poplar was Memphis' first internet cafe and had events seven days a week. The Edge was a second home to throngs of loyal patrons from every walk of life.  He has resurrected nearly the entire menu from The Edge, including The Avalanche,  “World Famous Highly Addictive Double Espresso Milkshake.” He brings specialty coffee and espresso formulas, roasts, blends, name and brand recognition, and a pretty large following from the last millennia.

Frank James - The Edge: is  interested  in community, in people, the arts, good times, great coffee, espresso, and espresso Drinks.
